
Meadows has an active student council made up of members from each classroom in grades 2-5. As part of the student council, students help out the school and community in a variety of ways including:
- Deliver the daily morning announcements
- Greet students at arrival in the morning
- Give building tours to visitors and new students
- Help lead school-wide assemblies
- Projects to give back to the school
- Facilitate Tub of Love community service projects
- Wall of Hope / Walk of Hope project to raise money for cancer awareness
Tub of Love Community Service Projects for the 2018-2019 school year include:
September / October: Meadows thanks our veterans for their service. Our collection will go the Topeka VA Medical Center. We will be collecting: body wash, toothpaste, white socks and individually packaged snack items (microwave popcorn, crackers, granola bars).
November / December: Share if you "Can". All cans will be donated towards Harvesters and our Meadows Holiday Food boxes. We will be collecting the following: vegetables, soup, pudding, applesauce, Spaghetti O's, ravioli, and spaghetti.
January / February: Our collection will be donated to the Cancer Center at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus. We will be collecting the following: fuzzy socks, ChapStick, fidget spinners, stress balls, adult coloring books, colored pencils, word searches, crosswords.
March / April: We will be collecting items to make trail mix bags to give back to the community organizations that help Meadows throughout the year. We need your help collecting the following items: plain M&M's, Honey Nut and regular Cheerios, Cheez-it crackers, Chex Mix cereal, pretzels, mini marshmallows.
